The project involves creating a visual identity for a new techno party series called "Eclipse," organized by an emerging association. The theme provided is Astral, which i found both fascinating and complex due to its connections with astral travel and the potential disorientation it can cause.
My approach integrates the astral concept with the techno universe, a genre that allows for an immersive escape into electronic soundscapes. After extensive exploration, i decided to focus on constellations as a central visual and conceptual theme, aligning with astral and techno elements. This also ties in with the strategic plan of organizing 12 parties over a year, each corresponding to one of the zodiac constellation, starting with Aries.
In the design phase, i experimented different manual techniques like paint, chalk or textured papers to develop unique shapes and test colors.
I then moved these ideas into 3D by creating constellations and referencing the Mul Apin tablet (ancient astronomy writings) in Blender. This blend of traditional and digital techniques helped form the strong elements of the visual identity.
A key element of the project is a collaboration with French artist Tauceti, who will perform for the Aries-themed event at La Laitière, a venue near the German border associated with the Eclipse collective.
The mockups we're going to find here are linked to the campaign (social media post, story, poster, free access ticket). These constellations are present in the naming of the evening but also on the face of the artist or artists present at the event. I'm sharing here 4 different examples (instagram post) of constellations to show the contrast beetween every partys.
Of course, the Mul Apin tablet is the strongest element of the design, and is featured on the latter. There's a lot of work done with lighting and colors to immerse us in the astral universe, that of the night, of the cosmic... As mentioned earlier, the color palette is modular, so for each new evening so for each new evening, and therefore for each new constellation, a new shade will be modified and added to our midnight blue to further highlight the contrast.
