New project: Balani by Chloé.
During the first semester of my 4th year in Art Direction, we have the opportunity to have a masterclass. The aim was simple: to bring together the 2 Art Direction classes and get us to work for just 2 days on a musical project, with the aim of printing a poster at the end of the 2 days. We then got together to draw an artist's sound. So I picked the sound “Balani” by Chloé, featured on her album “Sequenza”, released on October 29, 2021.
I listened to the sound several times and decided to work on 3 different poster axes. I then imagined a flower, already present on the cover of her album, to gain a guideline.
First, I worked on an aesthetic that corresponded to the project's universe: relatively cool colors and a minimalist aesthetic. Then, I focused on a poster that would contrast sharply with Chloé's universe, opting for something trashier, darker and stronger visually. Finally, I reoriented myself on the flower layout of the first poster, but worked with warmer colors and a 3D aspect to bring more volume to the design.
In the end, I chose the trashiest poster, to mark a strong contrast in the visual stakes. We're going to work in CMYK, so I say to myself that the shading on the lettering is too much, and calls for a second aestheticism that may not be welcome. So I decided to work in two-color process, knowing that the grayed black I was using would be all the clearer when printed. I went through a series of corrections before finally getting my poster from the wrokshop. I print it on A4 to display at home and my school also gives us a big multi-page journal containing everyone's projects !
